About Natasha D’Amours
Natasha D’Amours is currently in her final semester of the Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) program at the University of Alberta. She has also completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Victoria, with a major in writing and a minor in digital and interactive media in the arts. Her undergraduate focuses were fiction writing, film production, and virtual reality storytelling and filmmaking. Her love for storytelling and unique new technologies is matched only by her love of books, which led her to the MLIS program in Alberta.
Natasha is passionate about every aspect of books, from writing to printing to reading. She worked for several years in print production, with a particular interest in book printing and bookbinding. During her MLIS, she has worked at Bruce Peel Special Collections as a reading room supervisor and exhibition docent, where she has had the opportunity to discover the U of A’s unique collection of rare books and archival materials, and to share these discoveries with the community. She is also a Graduate Research Assistant for the SpokenWeb and AVAnnotate projects, working with archival literary audio and AV annotation; a co-producer of SHOUT! for Libraries, a radio show on CJSR 88.5FM addressing topics and trends in the field of librarianship; and the current president of the Greater Edmonton Library Association (GELA).
